Swami Vivekananda /Biography /Narendranath Dutta

[ Introduction- birth- parents- education- works- conclusion]
In the world of over seven billion people, sometimes we feel the absence of one man and suddenly we find that he is there in all men. This great personality is Swami Vivekananda. He was not merely a physical being but an unusual appearance. His original name was Narendranath Dutta. He was born on the 12th January, 1863 in Calcutta. Parents were Biswanath Dutta and Bhuvaneswari Devi. He became B.A. from Scottish Church College. This time he met Ramakrishna and was named Vivekananda by Ramakrishna. Vivekananda represented Hinduism in the world’s parliament of religions at Chicago in 1893. In 1897, Ramakrishna Math was founded by him. His main ideals were self-perfection of a man and service for the benefit of mankind. His birth anniversary is celebrated as the National Youth Day in India. We are very unlucky because this social reformer left us on the 4th July in 1902 at the age of 39 years. But his famous quote “Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached” still inspires us to reach our achievement.
