(a rich man – many servants – gold chain of daughter stolen – disappointed- ask every servant – no one admit the fact- an idea occur to him – call servant- give a stick to each of them – tell them the stick of the thief will grow an inch by the night- the real thief cut one inch of his stick- the rich man check the sticks and easily catch the thief.)
A Rich Man and a Thief
Once there lived a rich man in a city. He led a luxurious life. There were many servants in his house. One day a chain of his daughter was stolen. It was made of gold. The value of the chain was so high that the man became disappointed and asked every servant about it. But no servant admitted the fact. The rich man became more anxious about it. Suddenly a great idea occurred to him. Next day he called all the servants and said to them, ” You will be given sticks of equivalent length. Each of you have to keep this for one night. The stick of the thief will grow an Inch by the night.” All the servants agreed to this and took a stick. The real thief to cut his stick one inch so that his stick remain equal to the others. In the next day the rich man started to check the sticks of the servants. But when he saw the cut stick, he realised everything. Then he called the thief and turned down him from his house.
Moral – Sometimes a thorn is needed to pick up a thorn.
